Parker Jackson-Cartwright
PG, 5-9, 155
Loyola (CA)
Committed to Arizona
Nike Peach Jam 2013 (North Augusta, SC): Jackson-Cartwright is fun to watch; he’s so tiny that he inherently plays with a massive chip on his shoulder. Equipped with a yo-yo handle and impeccable court vision, he can legitimately control a game at the high school level. His handle is ridiculous—he never, ever picks up the ball against pressure—and he does a great job of managing a game, knowing when to score and when to distribute. Quick jab steps and crossovers allow him to change speeds and run the offense. A fearless competitor who makes everything easier for his teammates and will continue to make a name for himself. He has the flair of Brandon Jennings, though in a pass-first version.
But at 5-9, 155 pounds, can he compete at the college level? Can his blazing speed and tight handle once again compensate for the size disadvantage? How will he fare defensively? These are the million dollar questions. Arizona seems intent on letting Jackson-Cartwright run the offense as a freshman, so we should get a good look next season.
