Ja’Quan Newton

Nike Global Challenge 2013 (Washington D.C.): Once again, Newton was an aggressive scorer at the Global Challenge. He has one objective in mind: get to the rim and score. He stays low on his dribble, penetrates, and has good body control to finish on angles. Lightning quick with the basketball to get ahead of the defense and to shake bigger defenders.

The thing is, he’s neither a true point nor shooting guard. Newton can handle the ball, but he’s not necessarily someone who can run an offense. He’s more of a “lead guard.” Newton would thrive alongside a facilitating point guard, because his scoring instincts are off the charts. A fearless lefty who finishes inside the lane.
